During the first visit on 11th April, the trainees were accompanied by Mr. F. Nunes ( Principal) and the instructors of respective streams including N.L Sing, Jaiswal, T. Braz and S. Shet. During the visits of the CCMC class, the trainees were accompanied by Jaiswal, Kumar, Raymond and John Rodrigues as instructors of the concerned streams.
During these visits, the trainees were able to externally observe the hull of the vessel and all the markings like Ship’s name, draft marks load line marks and mooring arrange-ments etc. On the deck, they observed the Fore castle head, and various deck fittings such as Mast, windlass, anchor chain, bow stoppers, warping drums, fair leads, old man, hawse pipes etc. In addition, cargo hatch, hatch cover and the crane. the funnel, Rescue boat, Life jackets, life buoys and Fire fighting appliances, the poop deck, mooring winch, mooring ropes, heaving lines etc. were shown and explained to the trainees by their respective instructors
During April- May 2015, the Sea Scan Maritime Foundation had organized its man-datory instructional Ship Visits for all its three divisions trained by the Foundation. These visits were arranged as follows:
1. CCMC (All 33 trainees ) - on the 2nd May 2015 and the 9th May 2015.
2. GP (A) (All 40 trainees) - on the 11th April and the 16th May 2015
3. GP (B) (All 40 trainees) - on the 18th April and the 20th May 2015
The vessel chosen for such instructional visits was CHOWGULE 11, being constructed at the Chowgule Shipyard at Lotulim-Goa.
The following were the particulars of this ship. IMO No: 9701906, DWT: 2600 MT, LOA:79.90 mtrs, Breadth: 15.7 mtrs, Summer Draft: 3.70 mtrs, Freeboard: 4.75 mtrs. Type of ship: General Cargo. The keel of this vessel was laid in 2014.
