Sea Scan Maritime Foundation (SSMF) Goa is proud to announce its General Purpose Rating (GP) and Certificate course in Maritime Catering (CCMC) students who have secured first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and from tenth to seventeenth positions in the merit list from a total number of 3347 candidates who appeared in the All India Exit Exam that was conducted in December 2018. "The CCMC Rating students have attained 100% and GP 93% passing in the All India Exit Exam conducted in December 2018, " said. Capt Virendra J Mehta, Managing Director heads SSMF and is the chief promoter of the company. The institution is recognised by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India; and conducts training in compliance with ISO 9001 - 2015 certification by DET NORSKE VERITAS-GL.

A Chief Engineer — Mr Fregrenado Nunes, Principal, SSMF is in charge of the new maritime campus building at Verna Goa. It is built on a 20.0 acres plot in dense greenery and scenic environment having a total built up area of 4958.21 square metres consisting of basement, ground, first and second floor. The practical workshop has an area of 1800.00 square metres wherein the students gain hands on practical knowledge on 16 nos. lathe machine; 20 nos. welding & gas cutting equipment and various other associated workshop equipment in place. SSMF offers the following courses: General Purpose (GP) Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC) Basic safety Training (STCW) Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD) Passenger Ship Familiarization Its main aim is to fully prepare a trainee to go to sea. Hands-on practical training on deck and engine workshop is the core competence for which SSMF takes special pride and has self-devised equipment like Windlass, life boat launching arrangements; steering simulator; and many more for proper realization and better understanding of the subject.

The campus is designed and equipped as a perfect place known as Temple of Learning. SSMF has a full-fledged galley resembling a ships prototype with highly skilled and dedicated faculties who are ex-seafarers. Total of 30 nos. burners are provided to impart hands on training in cooking Continental and Indian dishes. Proper ships cabin is positioned for good housekeeping and bed making practices. In a nutshell, the whole training campus locations of cabins is dovetailed to resemble an ambience of a shipboard environment, where compulsorily every week fire and emergency drills are conducted by sounding relevant fire alarms and getting accustomed to mustering procedure. The Final All India Exit exams are conducted by The Board of Examinations for Seafarers Trust. The next batch for the GP Rating and CCMC commences on 1st July 2019 and the admissions are in process.
